Japan's action on Diaoyu Islands 'invalid'

By Cui Haipei (China Daily)

09:55, March 28, 2012

China said on Tuesday that any unilateral action taken by Japan about the Diaoyu Islands and its affiliated isles is invalid.

The remarks came after Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Osamu Fujimura said that the government on Monday had registered the north island, one of the four islands near the Diaoyu Islands in the East China Sea, as a national asset.

Earlier this month, Tokyo formally named four islands, three of which are owned by individuals, Kyodo News reported.

"Any unilateral action taken by the Japanese side about the Diaoyu Islands and its affiliated isles is illegal and invalid, and it will not change the fact that these islands belong to China," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said during a regular news briefing.

The Diaoyu Islands and other adjacent islets have been part of inherent Chinese territory since ancient times, and China has indisputable sovereignty over them, Hong said, stressing that China is firmly determined to defend its sovereignty of the islands.

The spokesman stressed that the Chinese government will continue to take actions necessary to safeguard sovereignty of the Diaoyu Islands and its affiliated islets.

In August, the Japanese government placed the 23 uninhabited islands on which Japan's 200-nautical-mile EEZ is based under state control, but the four islands near the Diaoyu Islands were not included.

A Chinese steering group for the publicity and education of the national awareness of the national territory and map market supervision, which consists of 13 ministries, said on Saturday that the Foreign Ministry and mapping department would jointly carry out naming work on key positions, such as the Diaoyu and Chiwei islands.

US even cannot win the war in Iraq and Vietnam ! Period. In Vietnam, you were beaten and run off. Ha ha ha.

I could not disagree with Harold"s comment more. Japan knows it has the backing the US, and it is the US who is urging on the confrontational attitude of Japan. Both the United States and Japan are probing China to see where the line in the sand is. If the line is never drawn the aggression will not only continue but will expand making it more difficult to counter in the future. No country can afford to appease an aggressor this lesson has been learned over and over in the history of the world.

I believe that Japan and the free countries of the West should go to war with China and North Korea. Its time to teach these Chinese a lesson.
