Chinese, Tajik ruling parties vow to enhance exchanges

15:38, March 27, 2012

BEIJING, March 27 (Xinhua) -- The Communist Party of China (CPC) and the People's Democratic Party of Tajikistan (PDPT) on Tuesday pledged to enhance exchanges and cooperation.

The pledge came out of a meeting between Zhou Yongkang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, and a PDPT delegation led by the party's Vice Chairman Latipov Asror.

Both parties are facing the same tasks in promoting economic development, improving people's livelihoods, maintaining national security and consolidating their ruling status, Zhou said.

He added that he hopes both parties will exchange experience on party-building and governance in order to make greater contributions to the development of China-Tajikistan relations.

Latipov said the delegation's visit is a "concrete action" that is part of a cooperative memorandum signed between both parties.

Zhou, who is also the secretary of the Political Science and Law Committee of the CPC Central Committee, called on both countries to boost China-Tajikistan cooperation to a new high.

With the 20th anniversary of bilateral ties coming up this year, China is ready to deepen political mutual trust with Tajikistan, expand trade and economic cooperation, strengthen security cooperation and closely coordinate with each other within multilateral frameworks, Zhou said.

Zhou asked Latipov to convey greetings from President Hu Jintao and himself to Tajik President Emomali Rakhmon.

The delegation was invited to visit China by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.
