China, Indonesia fight transnational crime

09:33, February 29, 2012

BEIJING, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- A top Chinese law enforcement officer said Tuesday that China hopes to cooperate more with Indonesia in transnational law enforcement.

When meeting Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Political, Law and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto, Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Meng Jianzhu said China would work with Indonesia to enrich the content of the two countries' strategic partnership.

China and Indonesia have cooperated much in law enforcement, Meng said. The two sides also fought against transnational crime, cooperated in criminal investigations and beefed up law enforcement capacity.

The cooperation had brought real benefits to both sides' people and made positive contributions to promoting bilateral relations, Meng said.

Both China and Indonesia "have extensive common interests and vast aspects of cooperation on bilateral, regional and global issues," Meng said.

Suyanto said the bilateral relationship had kept developing since Indonesia and China established their strategic partnership.

"Indonesia has the desire to further boost communication and cooperation with China in areas including politics, economy and law enforcement," Suyanto said.

Suyanto is in Beijing for the third meeting of the bilateral dialogue mechanism at vice prime ministerial level. On Tuesday morning, Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo and Suyanto co-chaired the meeting.

The dialogue mechanism was launched in 2005. The previous two meetings were held in 2006 and 2010.
