In light of a series of specific issues between China and Libya that require further communication, it remains difficult to predict a clear time for the full return and resumption of work by the Chinese companies, said Shen Danyang, the spokesman of China's Ministry of Commerce on Feb. 16.

Shen said, the specific issues include personnel safety, losses and damages, contract payment, bank accounts unfreezing, visa issuance, goods clearance, etc.

Shen confirmed that a working group from the ministry has recently completed a visit to Libya.

From Feb. 4 to Feb. 8 this year, Wang Shenyang, director of the Department of Foreign Investment and Economic Cooperation under China's Ministry of Commerce, led a working group visit to Libya.

The working group consisted of personnel from a number of companies under the Ministry of Commerce, the China International Contractors Association and the China State Construction Engineering Corporation.

Welcoming the working group’s visit, the Libyan side stressed the need to develop relations and cooperation with China, and promised to abide by the contracts signed with Chinese companies.

They welcomed China to return to the Libyan market and Chinese enterprises’ participation in Libya's post-war reconstruction.

They hoped that Chinese companies could seize the opportunity, resume bilateral cooperation as early as possible and expand the scale of cooperation.
