MANILA, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- Philippine President Benigno S. Aquino III thanked on Thursday the Chinese-Filipino businessmen for supporting the government in its effort to improve the nation' s economy.

Aquino made the statement during his keynote speech at the Seventh Biennial Convention of the Chinese-Filipino Business Club, Inc. (CFBCI)

"The CFBCI has been very helpful on the economic front, supporting the government in its efforts to create jobs and strengthen the economy. You have actively undertaken trade missions and tax consciousness campaigns, among other projects," he said.

The president also witnessed the group's donation of 30 motorcycles to help the Philippine National Police (PNP) perform its duties.

"I take this opportunity to thank you for supporting the PNP's Integrated Transformation Program, which will help us strengthen our police force's law enforcement capabilities, allowing us to better protect our countrymen," he said.

Aquino also urged the Chinese-Filipino businessmen to invest on the administration's three priority sectors for this year. These include agriculture, tourism, and infrastructure.

"We are doing what we can to expand these sectors as soon as we can. Getting involved now will give your companies plenty of opportunities to profit, and the psychic returns go on top of the monetary gains," he said.

"It is indeed a win-win situation: you will profit, and at the same time allow our people to live even more dignified lives through the jobs that will be generated. You will empower the communities you operate in, and make certain that the momentum of the Philippine economy will pick up, and be sustained," the president said.
