Senior CPC official meets Indian FM

BEIJING, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Wednesday stressed the importance of strengthening communication and coordination between China and India in regional and international affairs.

Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met with visiting Indian Minister of Foreign Affairs S.M. Krishna in Beijing.

Wang said China was ready to work with India to consolidate the political bases for their friendship, so as to contribute to their development, regional prosperity and world progress.

Krishna said India would like to further strengthen exchanges between the two countries at central and local levels, especially exchanges between the younger generation.

As a member of the BRICS, India was also ready to work with China to further improve coordination and cooperation in regional and international affairs, the minister said.
