Iloilo City, Philippines, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Philippine government needs more efforts to promote tourism destinations in China if it wants to attract Chinese tourists coming in the country, said an organizer of a fashion show here on Thursday.

In an interview, Teresita Ang-See, founding president of the Kaisa Para sa Kaunlaran Incorporated came over to Iloilo Thursday night to witness "A Touch of Chinese Ethnic Fashion". The fashion show which depicts tribal and dynasty costumes were organized by the Iloilo Chinese-Filipino Cultural Association.

"In our observation, there were more Filipinos coming as tourists in China rather than Chinese tourists coming to the Philippines. Aside from this, the Philippine government also needs to do more job to encourage Chinese investors to come in the country," she said.

More Chinese tourists are reportedly coming to other neighboring Asian countries rather than coming to the Philippines.

One example of good investments is that the ZTE Corporation has already poured in millions of investments in the country.

The Kaisa Para sa Kaunlaran Incorporated is an organization of Chinese Filipinos actively promoting the integration of the ethnic Chinese into mainstream Philippine society.

The fashion show, organized by the Chinoy community as part of the celebration of Chinese New Year and tenth Spring Festival in the city, is considered first in the Southeast Asian country.

Who wants to visit the slums? Philipines govt should concentrate on elevating the poverty of her people instead of investing in arms and building up confrontations with its neighbours. Peace will promote tourism.

The misshandling of the hostage situation, the detention of Chinese fishermen and boats and the haughty attitude in solving Nansha issue are not conducive to Chinese tourists.
