China condemns terrorist bombings in Syria

19:41, December 26, 2011

BEIJING, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- China strongly condemns the recent bombings in Syria and hopes the facts can be determined as soon as possible, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Monday.

Spokesman Hong Lei made the remarks at a daily press briefing when asked to comment on the deadly explosions in Syria that killed at least 44 people and wounded more than 150.

The explosions in Syria again demonstrated the importance and urgency of settling the Syrian crisis through peaceful dialogue, said Hong, adding that China is opposed to all forms of terrorism.

When asked about the first Arab observer mission due to arrive in Syria on Monday, Hong said China hopes the Arab League (AL) will strengthen coordination with the Syrian side and make substantial progress in the implementation of the observers protocol and an all-around cease of violence, so as to create conditions for resolving the Syrian crisis within the framework of the AL.
