Chinese UN envoy expresses condolences on Kim Jong Il's death

UNITED NATIONS, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Permanent Representative to the United Nations Li Baodong Tuesday went to the residence of the Permanent Mission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to the UN to express condolences over the passing away of top DPRK leader Kim Jong Il.

Sin Son Ho, the DPRK's permanent representative to the UN, expressed his appreciation for Li's visit. He said the DPRK people are immersed in deep grief over the loss of the great leader.

The DPRK people would turn their grief into strength, continuing to forge ahead the socialist cause of the DPRK, and intensifying the DPRK-China traditional friendly relationship of cooperation, Sin told Li.

Chinese Deputy Permanent Representative Wang Min and other diplomats of the Chinese Mission accompanied Li to the DPRK Mission.
