KHARTOUM, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- Visiting China's Special Envoy for African Affairs Liu Guijin has urged Sudan and South Sudan to make concessions, and narrow their differences.

Noting that China is a sincere friend and an important cooperative partner for both Sudan and South Sudan, Liu said that China hopes that the two sides can exercise self-restraint and calmness to continue negotiations so as to preserve the peaceful situations.

Liu made the remarks when meeting with Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Karti in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Sudanese side expressed its willingness to develop the good neighborly relations with South Sudan, and pledged efforts to go on negotiating with South Sudan to resolve the pending issues.

It also expected China to further play its role in safeguarding peace and stability between the two neighbors, as it is a common friend of both sides.

Liu arrived in Khartoum on Thursday after visiting Juba, capital of South Sudan.
