BEIJING, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Defense Minister Liang Guanglie held talks here on Thursday with his Bulgarian counterpart Anyu Angelov.

China and Bulgaria have witnessed frequent all-level exchanges and fruitful cooperation in the fields of trade, economics and the humanities, Liang said, adding that the two countries have collaborated well on international and regional issues in recent years.

He said China appreciates Bulgaria's adherence to the one-China policy, and the country understands and supports the Bulgarian side's choice of its own method of development.

"China is ready to work with Bulgaria to bring bilateral relations to a new high," Liang noted.

He said the two militaries have held close high-level visits and made progress in cooperation on personal training and logistics.

The two sides should make joint efforts to consolidate the outcomes, expand new cooperation areas and freshen up bilateral military ties, Liang added.

Angelov said the Bulgaria-China military ties have made a positive contribution to bilateral ties since the two countries forged diplomatic ties 62 years ago.

"Bulgaria will work with China to enhance pragmatic cooperation in all fields and further bilateral military relations," Angelov said.

Liang held a welcome ceremony for Angelov prior to the meeting.
