Senior CPC official delivers speech on China-U.S. ties in Texas

HOUSTON, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- A senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official delivered a speech Monday on how to build a mutually beneficial partnership between China and the United States in Dallas.

Wang Jiarui, visiting head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, made the speech at a luncheon hosted by the non-profit World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth.

Addressing some 300 U.S. statesmen, scholars and celebrities, Wang explored ways for the two countries to build a cooperative partnership based on mutual respect and mutual benefit.

Earlier Monday, Wang and his entourage met Richard Fisher, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and exchanged views on the U.S. and world economies.

The Chinese delegation also visited the Dallas Morning News and held talks with editors of the paper.

On Monday afternoon, Wang met with Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings on how to deepen cooperation between the two countries' provinces and cities.
