China-Africa friendship association has new council

BEIJING, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese-African People's Friendship Association (CAPFA) on Monday established its 5th council with Abdul'ahat Abdulrixit re-elected the chairman of the organization.

Abdul'ahat Abdulrixit, also vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the country's top political advisory body, said the CAPFA should further strengthen cooperative and friendly relationships between China and African nations especially during this time of global economic uncertainties.

He said China and Africa should particularly enhance exchanges in the field of culture.

On Friday, Abdul'ahat Abdulrixit also meet Zambia's former president Kenneth David Kaunda, who expressed gratitude for China's aid and support to Zambia.

CAPFA, one of China's earliest non-governmental organizations engaged in promoting friendship with African countries, was founded in April 1960. It is aimed at improving mutual understanding and friendship between China and Africa, safeguarding world peace and promoting common development.
