China: No cause for alarm over Pacific drill

(People's Daily Online)

Beijing, Nov.24 (People's Daily Online) -- China on Wednesday proclaimed that its recent naval drill is not directed at any specific nation.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Weimin, at a daily press briefing in Beijing yesterday, made the statement that the Chinese navy's recent exercise in the western Pacific is a routine drill and not directed at any specific country.

Japan's Kyodo news agency reported that six Chinese naval ships had crossed into the Pacific between two major Okinawa Prefecture islands in southern Japan since early Tuesday.

"It is learned that this is an annual, planned and routine drill," Liu said. "It is not directed at any specific country or target and is in keeping with relevant international laws and practices." (Li Zhenyu)

I will be the first one to laugh at your PLAN when one of your frigates or all of them struck by naval mines and sink to the bottom of the pacific ocean.

Why are all this drills even allowed in foreign international waters. China "s borders and seas are legitimate right and not for other foreign countries to doing drills with their partners, imagine if China doing a drill with their partners around south America.

Good to see the PLA Naval Forces are combining to make noises on the high waves. Had enough of noises from those US naval war exercises in front of China"s front yard with their doggies in the East and South of Asia! Pollute the western Pacific too since the east has been a war staging water bed and ground for decades that only ball-less asian fools allowed.

by Ho Sai Yuen ---China is both an economic and military power and is well respected and recognized throughout the war - especially in the maintenance of peace, anti-terrorism and in fostering deeper international understanding and cooperation. Our PLAN current exercise over the Pacific Ocean is mandatory and in keeping with its naval requirements...periodically!Therefore, as such, China need not have to apologize to any country, whether it be Japan or even Timbucktu for all they care...!Do these foreign countries ever give notice or clear declaration, when they perform naval exercises and that they are not targeting any country or any foreign power? NO...they don"t.So why would China have to say nice words to others when its intentions are clear???Do what you have to do China and do it bravely and without any bad conscience.Your exercise in the Western Pacific neither hurts nor harms anyone...no even a whale or dolphin for that matter!Hence, China, it is your right to do what you wish as your naval vessels sail through to Western Pacific. And the entire world watches with due respects too!!!
