CARACAS, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- China-Venezuela High-level Joint Commission held the 10th meeting here Wednesday.

The meeting was jointly presided by Venezuelan Planning and Finance Minister Jorge Giordani and Zhang Xiaoqiang, vice chairman of China's National Commission for Development and Reform.

Since the establishment of a bilateral strategic partnership for common development in 2001, friendly cooperation between the two countries has enjoyed fast development and made significant achievements, Zhang said.

It is important to expand cooperation from the field of energy to other sectors, he added.

Giordani said the meeting shows the fruits of cooperation between Venezuela and China over the past 10 years.

Bilateral trade is expected to reach 17 billion U.S. dollars in 2011, doubling that in 2010, Giordani added.

The meeting will end later in the day with the signing of a series of new bilateral cooperation agreements.

The joint commission is an important mechanism for the Chinese and the Venezuelan governments to have communication and coordination on cooperation in various fields.
