Chinese president appoints six new ambassadors

BEIJING, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao has appointed six new ambassadors to foreign countries, according to a statement from the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) on Wednesday.

Hu made the appointments in line with the decision made by the Standing Committee of the NPC, the nation's top legislature.

Ni Jian was appointed ambassador to Iraq, replacing Chang Yi.

Yu Hongyao was appointed ambassador to Maldives, replacing Yang Xiuping.

Luo Xiaoguang was appointed ambassador to Sudan, replacing Li Chengwen.

Zhao Yali was appointed ambassador to Uganda, replacing Sun Heping.

Wang Xiaoyuan was appointed ambassador to Colombia, replacing Gao Zhengyue.

Li Zhiguo was appointed ambassador to South Sudan.
