BEIJING, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan met here Monday with United States Governor of the State of Missouri Jeremiah Nixon.

Wang expressed congratulations for the inauguration in September of a cargo airline operating between China's financial hub of Shanghai and St. Louis, Missouri.

He said the rapid development of local cooperation between China and the U.S. has brought substantial benefits to people of both countries.

He hoped that the State of Missouri will strengthen cooperation with China's local governments in areas such as trade, investment, tourism, culture and education.

Wang called on the governments of China and the U.S. to create a sound environment for the two countries' enterprises, so as to promote economic growth and create more jobs in both countries.

Nixon said the State of Missouri is willing to conduct mutually beneficial cooperation with China in more fields, and welcomes more Chinese companies to invest in Missouri.
