DPRK's top lawmaker meets with CPC delegation

10:27, October 04, 2011

PYONGYANG, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Kim Yong Nam, the top legislator of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), met with a Communist Party of China (CPC) delegation here Monday and praised the bilateral ties.

Kim said it's a persistent position of the DPRK party and government to consolidate the foundation of the traditional bilateral friendship, which was forged by elder leaders of the two sides and is the common wealth of the two peoples.

The friendship was elevated to a new level after top DPRK leader Kim Jong Il's four visits to China in one year and the historical meeting of the two countries' leaders, he said.

He also said he hopes the Chinese people to make greater achievements under the CPC's leadership.

Guo Shengkun, head of the delegation, said the China-DPRK friendship had become stronger and more vigorous thanks to unremitting efforts by the two countries' generations over the past decades.

China and DPRK had beefed up their communication in recent years, with high-level exchanges becoming frequent, economic and trade cooperation deepening, cultural exchanges being active and strategic coordination strengthening, said Guo, an alternate member of the CPC central committee and secretary of the CPC Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional Committee.

It had been proven that consolidating and advancing China-DPRK ties are the common wishes of the two peoples and had become an irreversible guiding policy of the two sides, he said.

Meanwhile, Guo said he hopes the DPRK people could achieve more success.

The CPC delegation was on a five-day visit to Pyongyang at the invitation of central committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.

This is a very important relationship, both from an historical and current strategic stand point. The DPRK has and continues to be a champion against western colonial imperialism.
