UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi Friday met with the representatives of the so-called Rio Group and the foreign ministers of Malaysia and Indonesia on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

Representatives of the Rio Group, a major regional bloc in Latin America, briefed Yang on the preparations for establishing the Community of Latin America.

Yang said that China attaches importance to regional organizations in Latin America, including the Rio Group. China hopes for an early establishment of the Community of Latin America and is willing to conduct friendly exchanges, consultation and cooperation with the future regional organization, he said.

China also hopes the Community of Latin America continues to adhere to the one-China policy, Yang said.

The Chinese foreign minister also said that China-Latin America relations have maintained a good momentum of comprehensive and rapid development in recent years.

China will stick to its policy of amity, cooperation and development towards Latin America, seeking to forge a comprehensive cooperative partnership of equality, mutual benefit and common development with nations in the region.

Chilean Foreign Minister Alfredo Moreno, whose country holds the rotating presidency of the regional bloc, said that China and the Rio Group have a lasting relationship which should be valued.

The Rio Group is willing to continue to enhance political relations with China, fully develop the potential of bilateral economic cooperation and welcomes more Chinese investments in Latin America.

The Rio Group and the future Community of Latin America will adhere to the one-China policy, he said.

The two sides also exchanged views on the global financial crisis and other issues.

In meeting with Malaysian Foreign Minister Anifah Aman, Yang said that the mutually beneficial cooperations between China and Malaysia in all areas are going well.

The two countries should maintain high-level exchanges, advance economic and trade cooperation, deepen cooperation on law enforcement so as to further promote China-Malaysia strategic cooperative relations.

Yang's Malaysian counterpart said that Malaysia is devoted to raising the bilateral ties to a new high.

The two parties have agreed to strengthen cooperation within the China-ASEAN cooperation mechanism and East Asia Summit framework to lead cooperation in East Asia to healthy development.

During talks with Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa, Yang said that China attaches great importance to China-Indonesia relations and is willing to strengthen cooperation in all fields and work for greater development in bilateral ties.

Marty said that the two sides should increase dialogue, expand trade and economic relations and increase personnel exchanges.

They both spoke highly of the guidelines of implementing the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea (DOC) and wished to promote relevant cooperations. The two countries also agreed to enhance communication and coordination to ensure a success of a series meetings of east asian leaders slated for November.
