BEIJING, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- Top political advisor Jia Qinglin on Tuesday met with his Slovenian counterpart Blaz Kavcic, president of Slovenia's upper house National Council, vowing to bolster parliamentary cooperation between the two nations to a higher level.

Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), hailed the state of China-Slovenia relations, stating that China will work with Slovenia to boost cooperation in the fields of economics and humanitarianism.

China appreciates Slovenia's adherence to the one-China policy, Jia said.

Jia also called for expanding bilateral cooperation in the fields of trade and infrastructure. He said many Chinese companies that specialize in infrastructure construction are eager to expand their international business in foreign countries such as Slovenia.

China is convinced that two-way trade cooperation will help both countries to further their development in the future, Jia added.

Jia also briefed Kavcic on the latest occurrences regarding China's economic and social development, stating that the CPPCC attaches great importance to its relations with the Slovenian National Council. Jia suggested that both political organs should foster cooperation at multiple levels in order to contribute to the promotion of China-Slovenia ties.

Kavcic expressed his admiration for the achievements China has made in its economic and social development thus far. He said China is one of his country's most important partners and Slovenia is looking forward to boosting its cooperation with China.
