Chinese state councilor calls for more medical exchanges with Sweden institute

BEIJING, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese state councilor Liu Yandong met with President of Sweden's Karolinska Institute (KI) Harriet Wallberg-Henriksson in Beijing on Monday, calling on the institute to further expand medical exchanges and cooperation with China.

Liu appreciated KI's positive role in helping promote China's medical education and research, as well as its contribution in boosting understanding and exchanges between Chinese and Swedish people.

She said she welcomes and supports KI to enhance exchanges with Chinese universities and research institutes, and make new contribution to boosting higher education of both countries, cultural exchanges and the development of global health cause.

KI is one of the world's leading medical universities.
