BEIJING, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- China hopes that political parties in Nepal will seek consensus through dialogue to realize political stability and economic development at an early date, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu said on Tuesday.
Ma made the remarks while responding to a question about Nepali Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal's resignation on Sunday.
Khanal tendered his resignation to President Ram Baran Yadav six months and 11 days after be elected.
"China appreciates Prime Minister Khanal's commitment to the development of the China-Nepal relationship during his term," Ma said.
Ma added that China attaches importance to the friendship and cooperation between the two countries in accordance with the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence.
