KUNMING, Feb. 19 -- A zookeeper died in an elephant enclosure on Wednesday afternoon in southwest China's Yunnan Province, a source at the zoo said.

The man, 46, was found dead at about 4:30 p.m. He had injuries to his head, according to the zoo of Kunming, the provincial capital.

It is not yet known whether the man had been attacked by an elephant.

The cause of the accident is being investigated.
