Porsche AG, the German sports car maker, will recall some Panamera Turbo S, Panamera Turbo and Cayenne Turbo vehicles globally due to imperfect turbocharger. Among them, 72 units of 2012 model year Panamera Turbo S will be recalled in China.
According to sources, the 2012 Panamera Turbo S, 2011-12 Panamera Turbo powered by the company’s twin-turbocharged engine (X80), and 2011-12 Cayenne Turbo powered by the twin-turbocharged engine (E81) are recalled due to a defective turbine wheel. Those vehicles in question may have been equipped with a defective turbine wheel. Due to a casting issue, it is possible that the turbine wheel could fracture, resulting in a decrease in engine performance. The defect could also cause oil to be drawn into the exhaust system, resulting in smoke and the increased likelihood of a fire. It is said that Porsche AG will recall 1,500 questioned vehicle globally and 270 Cayenne 2012 and Panamera 2011-12 had been recalled in the United States on July 11.
The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China said that a total of 72 units of Panamera Turbo S produced between April 27, 2011 and May 22, 2012 will be recalled in Chinese Mainland. At present, the Porsche China has submitted a recall report, saying that the after-sale service centers will contact with the owners of recalls and install a new turbine wheel free of charge since Aug. 20.
