Two missing after scaffolding collapses at Singapore construction site

SINGAPORE, July 18 (Xinhua) -- Two workers went missing after a temporary scaffolding at an underground construction site in Singapore collapsed on Wednesday morning, local media reported.

Eight others suffered minor injuries and were sent to a hospital near the construction site at a subway link.

The Land Transport Authority said the incident happened at about 6:50 a.m. in the morning when the workers work on top of the structure, which was about 4 meters high. The area affected were localized, measuring about 5 meters by 10 meters.

The search and rescue efforts were ongoing, and engineers and personnel are at the site to assist the rescuers.

The Land Transport Authority said subway station structure is substantially complete and structurally sound.
