In the first half of this year, a total of 1,014,170 vehicles belonging to 16 brands were recalled in China. Japanese and South Korean vehicles are the most recalled, according to the data from the official website of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China.

In the first half this year, Japanese and South Korean vehicles have been recalled 13 times, involving six brands and 661,721 vehicles, accounting for 65.2 percent of the total number of the recalled cars. In particular, Honda vehicles have been recalled six times with 537,517 cars, accounting for more than half of the total number of the recalled vehicles, even more than the total number of the U.S. and Europe recalled vehicles.

In contrast, U.S. vehicles were recalled seven times, involving 132,751 vehicles. The recall number is far lower than the Japanese and South Korean cars. The European vehicles have been recalled 12 times with 219,698 cars

The main reasons of auto recall involve the problem of electronic components, mechanical components and airbags.

According to the recall report submitted recently by the BMW (China) Trading Co., Ltd. and BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China, starting from August 15, 2012, BMW will recall some of the imported and domestic BMW 3 Series, X1 and Z4 cars, involving a total of 2,907 cars produced from 2010 to 2012.

The recalled cars have the problem of steering control module defects, the electronic power steering system may be non-normal shutdown. When failures occur, it will cause the vehicle to lose power steering, the warning lights up on the dashboard, and accompanied by the information prompts. BMW will replace the steering gear of the recalled vehicles for free to eliminate hidden dangers.

Among the own brand cars, Great Wall Motor announced on June 25 to recall of 12,340 Hover H6 vehicles.
