The number of complaints that the local customer complaint hotline 12315 received during the Dragon Boat Festival rose 8 percent year-on-year to 287, the Shanghai Administration for Industry and Commerce reported yesterday.

Online shopping complaints topped the list. The hotline received 55 complaints about online purchases, an increase of 57 percent from last year, according to the agency.

Food safety and telecommunication complaints ranked second and third. The hotline received 12 complaints about zongzi, the rice dumplings that Chinese traditionally eat during the holiday, up from eight complaints last year.
