Police solve 102,000 economic cases since March

08:43, May 31, 2012

BEIJING, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese police have solved 102,000 cases of economic crime since launching a special crackdown on the issue on March 1, according to the Ministry of Public Security.

The figure has exceeded the total number of such cases settled last year, the ministry said on Wednesday.

A total of 145,000 cases of economic crime have been investigated in the past three months, 37,000 of which were uncovered in 32 big cities.

Vice minister Liu Jinguo urged police departments, those in big cities in particular, to better cooperate with other departments to reinforce the crackdown, which he said has entered a pivotal phase.

Police departments are urged to more strictly enforce the law and encourage the public to report clues by offering rewards.
