China's 1st foreign donor of hematopoietic stem cells

Yong Yoon Khong (R) receives a certificate from the Red Cross Society of China Tianjin Branch in north China's Tianjin Municipality, April 12, 2012. Yong, a 35-year-old Malaysian of Chinese origin, went to Tianjin First Center Hospital on Thursday to prepare for the donation of hematopoietic stem cells for a seven-year-old boy from central China's Anhui Province who is suffering from leukemia. Yong is expected to become the first foreign donor of hematopoietic stem cells registered in China Marrow Donor Program (CMDP). (Xinhua/Yue Yuewei)
