After investigating, police this week ruled the death of a 5 year-old boy in Yanji, Jilin province an accident. The 5 year-old was killed on March 8 when a 3-year-old boy accidentally started a minivan and ran him over.

According to City Evening News, a man surnamed Qiao parked in front of a shop, while he and his sister-in-law, surnamed Zhou, went into the shop, leaving Zhou's 3 year-old son in the vehicle. Qiao left the key in the ignition and forgot to pull the handbrake. The 3 year-old turned on the ignition and the minivan lurched forward, running over the 5-year-old boy, who was playing in front of the vehicle.

Police said Qiao and Zhou should take responsibility for the accident and compensate the victim's family.
