Rivers polluted, water tainted in Zhejiang province

(People's Daily Online)

08:08, March 23, 2012

The Daqu creek and Baiyang river was nicknamed “yellow river” and “orange juice river” by the local people in Haiyan county, Jiaxing city of Zhejiang province, because the color of their polluted water has turned increasingly yellow.

The chief culprit of the tainted water is the iron ion in the sewage drained from the nearby industrial park.

Looks exactly like the rest of China"s rivers. Calling it "ion" is an interesting play on words. It is raw sewage and the white stuff that floats is toilet paper.

China needs to have a clean sanitary system so it does not pollute the water which is essential for life.
