Average life expectancy of Chinese reaches 73

During the 11th Five-Year Plan period (2006-2010), the average life expectancy of Chinese increased by one year from 72 years to 73 years.

Meanwhile, the country has basically established a national disease control and prevention system, which mainly relies on disease control and prevention centers at the national, provincial, municipal, and county levels, and takes health care institutions at the township and village levels as well as urban community medical institutions as a supplement, Deng Haihua, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, said on Feb. 8.
