Land slides in NW China, casualities unknown

YONGJING, Gansu, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- A landslide occurred Tuesday afternoon in Yongjing county, northwest Gansu province, according to the county government.

Witnesses say the landslide swept vehicles from the road into the Yellow River at about 4:40 p.m. in the Yanguoxia township. About 100,000 cubic meters of earth fell, according to the local government.

The number of casualties remains unknown.

Rescuers and police have rushed to the site, and local police have blocked the nearby road.

The cause of the landslide is still under investigation.
