SHANGHAI, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- The growing IT service industry in Shanghai received 307.52 billion yuan (48.77 billion U.S. dollars) in 2011, according to a report released by Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information on Monday.
The figure was a 21.5 percent increase from that in 2010. Shanghai has seen six consecutive years with an over 20-percent increase in the city's IT service industry, said the report.
By the end of 2011, there were over 4,000 enterprises in the IT service industry with 353,000 employees in Shanghai. And 43 among those enterprises were listed overseas.
In 2012, Shanghai will support the IT service industry as its emerging strategic industry through efforts to cultivate companies engaged in cloud computing, mobile internet and high-end software.
It is expected that in 2012 the IT service industry in Shanghai will receive 360 billion yuan, a twenty percent increase year-on-year, said the report.
