China's netizen population has reached 500 million, which is equal to the population of a big continent, and it is still increasing by more than 50 million annually, which is equal to the population of medium-sized country. Jiang Qiping, an Internet expert with Chinese Academy of Sciences, said it is like immigration from the real space to the virtual space of the Internet, meaning people are transferring their contents of life and work to the Internet.

According to a report, China's mobile phone netizens are increasing sharply. A professor with the Renmin University of China, Kuang Wenbo believes that the increase of the mobile phone netizens will turn into a trend. In 2011, the sales volume of smart mobile phones had exceeded that of personal computers. In the future, as smart mobile phones are spreading, mobile phone netizens will continue increasing.

In the first half of 2011, China's microblog users soared by 300 percent. Regarding this growth, Jiang believes that the channels from which people receive information are changing, and microblog has turned into the main channel for people to receive information. It has become a remarkable phenomenon that people get information from scattered microblogs. They are not only information receivers but also information sources.
