4.8-magnitude quake hits SW China

AN earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale jolted Pengzhou City in southwest China's Sichuan Province at 0:46am this morning, China earthquake Networks Center said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 18 kilometers, was monitored at 31.3 degrees north latitude and 103.7 degrees east longitude.

So far, no casualties or injuries have been reported.

The quake was obviously felt in Chengdu, the provincial capital. Many residents woke up from sleep and ran to streets in pajamas.
