BEIJING, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- A strong cold front will bring temperatures down in north and northeast China while snows will hit parts of the regions, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said Tuesday.
Temperatures will plunge six to 10 degrees Celsius in the country's north and northeast from Tuesday night to Wednesday, with some areas to see temperatures drop 10 to 12 degrees Celsius, the NMC said.
Moderate snows will fall in Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning provinces in northeast China, it said.
The temperature in the capital city of Beijing will dip to around minus eight degrees Celsius on Thursday and Friday nights before rising again on Saturday.
The NMC noted that the cold spell will speed up the freezing of the Yellow River and urged for prevention of floods caused by ice run.
