BEIJING, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- A five-day workshop on the integration between China's civic air defense and the country's economic and social development was inaugurated Sunday, at the National School of Administration in Beijing.

Head of provincial-level government civic air defense departments throughout the country and Army officers in charge of the issue from major military area commands of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) have attended the event.

The authorities are carrying out a series of research activities and pilot projects on the matter amid the current revision of the Civic Air Defense Law, said Wang Kebin, deputy director of the National People's Air Defense Office.

People's Air Defense is part of the country's national defense, which means that in accordance with the requirements of national defense, the state mobilizes and organizes the people to take protective measures to prevent and reduce the threats of air raids by the enemy, the official said.
