Helping poor kids realize their dreams

"Uncle Kun" is surrounded by the kids he funded in a Laershan Hope Primary School in Fenghuang county, Central China's Hunan province, Dec 7, 2011. Zhang Kun, 65, a private entrepreneur and former teacher, comes from Dongguan in Guangdong province. He is honored as "King of Grants" for financing more than 4,000 students in China's Guangxi, Anhui, Hunan and Sichuan provinces and regions for 23 years. As the promoter of the "One Thousandth Public Service Center", Zhang called for people to donate one thousandth of their incomes to help fund poor kids in poverty-stricken areas, 1,300 people took up his call.(Xinhua/Chen yehua)
