An explosion that occurred at a bank in Central China's Hubei Province on Thursday afternoon has killed two pedestrians and injured more than 10 people, according to the Sina Weibo account of the Wuhan Public Security Bureau.

The blast occurred at about 5:30 pm at a China Construction Bank branch in Wuhan.

Firefighters have stayed on scene for hours and police have blocked access to nearby roads, Xinhua reported.

Authorities have ruled out a liquefied gas pipe explosion as the cause of the blast.

The injured have been sent to nearby hospitals for treatment, although their conditions are not yet known. A girl's hindbrain was broken by the explosion, said the Xinhua report. The injured include several bank employees and security guards, who suffered slight injuries, sources with CCB's Hubei headquarters said.

The Sina Weibo of Wuhan Public Security Bureau said that initial investigation showed the explosion was caused by an unidentified object outside of an adjacent drugstore.

The Wuhan-based Chutian Metropolis Daily reported that a cash transport van was near when the explosion happened, and was driven away shortly after the blast.

It also quoted Tian Jingchao, a staff member at a local fire department, from his Weibo that "a gangster detonated the explosive, and the bank was robbed."

His Weibo piece could not be found by press time.

A further investigation into the explosion is under way.

With so many reports of explosions, vehicle tanker collisions and rail crashes, surely the Heads of Security Bureau(s) of all provinces and Beijing need to THINK of sabotages and terrorist acts. The world is full of jealousies and hatreds.
