NANJING, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Marine authorities are searching for a fishing boat with 11 people on board, almost 13 hours after the vessel went missing in the Yellow Sea on Thursday.

The 94-tonne fishing boat, registered in Hai'an County of Jiangsu Province, has been out of contact since 7 a.m. off the east coast of Jiangsu, said an official from the publicity department of Hai'an.

The official said the boat had been anchored after it sought harbor from strong gales that began Tuesday morning.

Search and rescue efforts are under way.
