Village committee election held in east China's Zhejiang

Villager Xu Hongliang, delievers a speech as he recommended himself as a committee member during the village committee election in Beier village of Hangbu Township, Quzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province, March 15, 2011. Recently, an amendment of the election method in village committees in Zhejiang Province was approved by the 29 session of the standing committee of the 11th people's congress of Zhejiang Province, allowing villagers to recommend themselves to take part in multi-candidate elections in local villages. Candidate recommendations can be made personally by the candidate or by a grass roots Party organization. (Xinhua/Tan Jin)
