Cold front to sweep northern China

BEIJING, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- A cold spell will hit north China on Wednesday and move toward central and eastern China until Monday, China's meteorological authorities said in a Wednesday forecast.

Temperatures in most parts of northern China will fall by six to eight degrees Celsius, while some parts in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, northern China and northeastern China will experience drops of eight to ten degrees Celsius. Some parts of these areas will even see a temperature plunge of 12 degree Celsius, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said.

The lowest temperatures in northwest Xinjiang, central and eastern parts of Inner Mongolia, and central and northern regions of northeast China will fall below ten degrees Celsius below zero.

Snow or sleet are forecast in some parts of Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia and the provinces of Gansu and Heilongjiang in the coming three days, the NMC said.
