Beijing, Nov.8 (People's Daily Online) -- A devastating flood appeared in Hanjiang River Basin during mid-September this year, and the increased flow brought a large amount of sand was from the tributaries of Hanjiang River to Yangtze River.

The sand was deposited in the channel segment from the estuary of the Han River to Wuhanguan Wharf, forming a large area of shoal, which endangers the smoothness of the waterway. To ensure navigation safety, the Yangtze River Waterway Administration dispatched three big dredgers to dredge the Hankou waterway.
