(Global Times)

Beijing has experienced heavy haze over the past week, but no evidence indicates that the city has experienced extreme weather this year, Chen Zhenlin, spokesman of China Meteorological Administration said at the monthly news conference Wednesday.

Chen said heavy fog and hazy skies are normal in fall and winter, as conditions are ideal to form fog and haze, the major reasons which lead to the decline in the city's air quality. More fog is expected in the next 10 days, according to Beijing Youth Daily Thursday.
