Van plummets into ravine in SW China, killing 4 and injuring 2

KUNMING, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- A van fell into a ravine in southwest China's Yunnan province on Wednesday, leaving four people dead and two others critically injured, according to the local government.

The accident occurred around 1:00 p.m. in Luoping county after the van was hit by a falling rock and went off the road, plummeting 65 meters to the bottom of a roadside ravine, according to the county government.

The two injured are currently being treated, according to rescuers.

An official with the county government said local authorities sent rescue and investigation teams to the scene immediately after the accident occurred, adding that the county government has offered its condolences to the relatives of the deceased.
