HR Ministry: China's employment stable

Employment in the third quarter was the highest compared to the same period in recent years ,and the overall employment trend is stable, said Yin Chengji, the spokesman of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People's Republic of China (MOHRSS) at a press conference on Tuesday.

As of the end of September, the country has created more than 9.9 million new jobs so far this year, 10 percent higher than the full-year target of 9 million, Yin said. And the urban re-employment population increased 4.4 million during the first three quarters, fulfilling 87 percent of its target.

A total of nearly 1.4 milion people who are less competitive in the workforce because of their age, including females over 40 years old and males over 50, had gained employment by the end of September, exceeding its target of 1 million this year. The registered urban unemployment rate was 4.1 percent at the end of September, unchanged from the second quarter.
