18 years more for Taiwan's former leader Chen Shui-bian

Taiwan's former leader Chen Shui-bian, who is already in jail for corruption, was given an additional 18-year sentence on Thursday for his role in a financial scandal.

Chen is serving a jail term of 17 years and six months. The high court sentenced him to another 18 years in prison for accepting bribes from the banks, a high-court spokesman added.

What"s new? After Bian’s lawyers filed several more rounds of appeal against the sentence to the infamous Taiwan judiciary, the 18 more years will simply revert to 18 days only.
