Expressway pileups leave 3 dead, 4 injured in NW China province

XI'AN, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Six pileups on a fog-shrouded expressway section in northwest China's Shaanxi Province Thursday morning have left three people dead and four others injured.

Police said all of the six accidents occurred in the Baotou-Maoming Expressway in Yulin City, Shaanxi, at around 6 a.m., and involved 19 vehicles, 18 of which are heavy trucks.

The injured have been rushed to hospital.

Traffic on the expressway was resumed at 9 a.m. after hours of blockage.
