NANCHANG, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- Thirteen women handball athletes from Macao Special Administrative Region were injured in a car accident in Nanchang, capital of east China's Jiangxi Province, local authorities said Sunday.

Among the wounded athletes, six suffered minor injuries while the seven others were in "more serious conditions", according to the statement.

All the injured athletes and the volunteer have been sent to a nearby hospital for treatment, and doctors said the injuries were not life-threatening.

The handball team was returning from a match for the 7th National Inter-City Games, which is held in Nanchang.
